Leigh Haas, born in 1972 in Scotland, began her studies with interior and spatial design, later graduating as an architect from the Glasgow School ofArt. After her studies she moved to Berlin in 1993 and shifted her focus to the design and organisation of temporary club spaces. She created and designed a temporary space in Berlin called 'Screen' and was part of the legendary 'Friseur' club team. Between 1995 and 1997 she worked as an installations designer for many clubs around Germany - WMF being the best known.
She was invited to create the 'Jugenmusikfestspiele' 1997 by the Berlin theatre 'Volksbuhne'. It was there that she met Heike Blümner and only one year later, together with Lizzy Herzer they started the flora&fauna network. Between 1997 and 2001, together with the performance group GOBSQUAD, Haas worked the video and visualisation of a series of performances cynically inspired by popular media-hype. Her work with GOBSQUAD took her to Russia, the US, Croatia, Italy, UK, Spain, France and beyond.
Parallel to this, Haas was furthermore exploring digital ideas and temporary space design in commercial and experimental projects, creating visuals, designing clubs, or performing live - focussing on the creation of living surface that functions both as a means for lighting a space, but also as experiential extensions to the message or content.
flora&faunavisions was founded in 1999. She is the sole founder and Creative Director.
